Marjorie K. McIntosh

Marjorie K. McIntosh retired as a Distinguished Professor after teaching History for 28 years at the University of Colorado at Boulder. During her tenure, Dr. McIntosh received numerous fellowships, grants and awards from institutions such as Harvard University, Cambridge University, and the University of Colorado.

 

Following is a summary of Community-Based Historical Research Projects organized by Dr. McIntosh:

  • Organizer and principal coordinator, Boulder County Latino History Project, a community-based study of a century of Latino participation, based largely on Oral History interviews and with much of the research done by Latino teen/youth interns, Boulder, Colorado, January, 2013 – Present. In addition to helping to create the Boulder County Latino History Project and preparing material for its website, she is now engaged with the Project’s work with K-12 teachers.
  • Organizer and trainer, historical study based on interviews and photo documentation of Muslims living in villages on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, Uganda, spring, 2008 (carried out by students at the Islamic University in Uganda over the next few years).
  • Informal advisor to Jennie Sanchez and Shelley Wittevrongel, writing a participant history of Latino Activism in Center, Colorado during the 1970s-80s, 2011-Present.
